First Tooth!!!!

Addison has her first tooth. It is so exciting. Daniel and I didn't even notice it. A friend of mine noticed it. It is in the lower front of her mouth. I can't believe that she just turned 5 months and she already has a tooth. She is growing up so fast.

Addison - Almost 5 Months

Dear Addison,

I can not believe how fast you are growing. You are 4 1/2 months old now. You weigh 15 lbs 14 oz. You can sit up with assistance and sometimes, for a few seconds, you can sit up by yourself. You love to stand while holding on to mommy or daddy's fingers. You love playing in your exersaucer. You have started riding in the big girl area of your stroller, instead of the infant seat. You like sitting in the big girl area of the stroller because you can see everything. You are a very happy baby. You always smile when mommy or daddy talks to you. You love sucking your thumb. We are pretty sure you are teething, because anything you can get into your mouth you chew on. You like making all kinds of sounds and you like sticking out your tongue. You still have the most beautiful blue eyes. I think at this point you will probably keep your blue eyes. We are still not quite sure what color hair you are going to have.

I love you with all my heart.

Christmas & Faithwalkers Conference

We had a great Christmas in the Mountains. We spent Christmas Eve with my parents, my brother and my Aunt & Uncle’s family. Though Daniel and I both were sick, we still had a great time visiting with the family.

Christmas day was spent with my parents and my brother. My parents went a little overboard with gifts for Addison, but we didn’t mind and Addison really enjoyed all the gifts she got.

After Christmas Daniel and I went to a conference our church (Great Commission Churchs – it’s a world wide church) puts together called Faithwalkers in Ridgecrest (near Asheville). We left Addison with my parents, which they loved!

The Faithwalkers conference was wonderful. It was so inspiring and encouraging to hear all the stories of how people are reaching out with the gospel. There were people from all over the world, sharing their stories. The conference showed me a lot of areas that I need to grow in as a Christian.

First, I need to be faithful in the little things before God will give me bigger responsibilities. Luke 16:10 “Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much.” I need to be more faithful in my prayer time and in reading the Bible. The girls in my root group have committed to reading the whole Bible this coming year, 2008. But the point is not only to read it, but to be open to see what God wants to teach me.

I also want to commit each day to God. There are so many days that I don’t know what I should be focused on and I spend time doing things that are not a priority for me, and I don’t get done the things that are a priority. Every morning I want to start my morning asking God to direct my day and show me the things he wants me to focus on that day. This will also help reduce my stress. By better understanding the things I need to focus on, I can eliminate from my day the things that aren’t that important.

Practically speaking, I want to commit to getting up before Addison gets up each morning and having a prayer and quite time. This will help me start my day focused on God and help me see what my priorities for the day should be. My hope is that this will start my day off with the right attitude. This will be a challenge though, considering I will have to get up around 6:00 for it to work.

I also am going to be better about memorizing verses. There are times when the verses I have already memorized really help me to remember something important in a certain situation or they help me make decisions. I know the more I memorize the more I will live my life the way God wants me to. And the better prepared I will be with sharing God’s word with other people.

There are many more areas I need to grow in, but I am starting with these. Please pray for me that I am faithful in these areas, so that I can move on to bigger areas of my life that also need work.

Amy
